We take Design’s vision and bring it to life for our customer by developing strong, collaborative relationships with our cross-functional teams; as well as by building a strategic supplier matrix that delivers top quality, brand-right clothing at competitive prices. Raw Materials:
The Fabric & Trim Research and Development Team drives finding and commercializing fabrics and trims to keep Chico’s FAS Brands on the cutting edge of fashion and innovation. Finding the brand-right product and ensuring the right price/value and technical performance are key deliverables to the business.
The Color Team provides leadership in color development and color approvals in bulk production to support the brand aesthetic. The Brands create a color coordinated collection each month and the Color Team drives the color execution and production in the supply chain to ensure a cohesive collection in the boutiques. The Color Team also provides technical support to internal teams as well as the supply chain.
The Technical Services Team consists of material and garment technical experts who analyze material developments as well as material and garment test reports. It is our responsibility to ensure materials and garments are fit for their intended use and that all appropriate regulatory and physical testing is performed to ensure the customer will be satisfied. Sourcing Operations:
The Chico's FAS Sourcing Operations Team is comprised of highly skilled technical professionals located in our National Store Support Center in Fort Myers, Florida. We collaborate internally with our cross functional partners and externally with our global suppliers to support the development of brand-right merchandise, Right First Time manufacturing, cost engineering, and the evaluation of customer response to our products. Technical Design:
We are the "architects" for clothing at Chico's FAS. We collaborate with Design and Product Development to create comfortable, well-fitting clothing that makes our customers feel great. Business Process Management (BPM):
The BPM team has a global understanding of all functional roles involved in the Product Development Life Cycle. The team aligns people, process and technology, ensuring that all three elements work together across functional areas and brands to achieve increased process efficiency, consistency and compliance. The team is also responsible for establishing Product Life Cycle Business Calendars for each brand and ensuring that processes and activities align with key milestones. Accomplishments of Note:Asia Technical Support Office (ATSO):
The ATSO Team is staffed with professional engineers and technicians located in Hong Kong, SAR, China. ATSO connects our supply chain to the brands with targeted engagement and technical guidance. They are the technical face of the brands promoting superior manufacturing execution with compliance and alignment to the expectations of our brands. Envision:
This software provides Chico’s FAS the opportunity to manage color electronically. The software combined with a special calibrated monitor allows us to view “true” color of various material substrates. After evaluating colors of different material types together, we are able to communicate adjustments to the supply base electronically. Flexible Sourcing and Product Development Model - Right Product, Right Time:
The BPM team and key stakeholders across the brands have done great work by defining product development tracks that align with the key milestone meetings in each brand. By standardizing these tracks across the different brands, the teams and the supply base are able to work more efficiently together and quickly react to sales and fashion trends. Supplier Council Initiative:
At Chico’s FAS, we emphasize partnership – both external and internal. One great example is our Supplier Council. This is a forum in which Global Sourcing and Brand leaders meet with our Strategic Vendor Partners to share ideas, define priorities, and develop processes to enhance efficiencies and cost savings. Exciting initiatives underway or in planning stages:Strategic Vendor Management:
We focus on creating a global portfolio of strategic, long-term vendor relationships that support innovation, optimize quality, reduce costs and increase speed and flexibility. Product Life Cycle Management Implementation:
Concept to Purchase Order project - BPM, the Business and Technology partnered together to successfully implement and roll-out FlexPLM and Product Life Cycle Business Processes. Cost Engineering:
In support of satisfying each brand's financial goals and quality requirements, the Sourcing Operations team and ATSO are leading the effort to implement Cost Engineering. This initiative educates internal partners and external vendors and suppliers on how to apply industrial and process engineering to evaluate operational efficiencies, identify and implement best methods, conduct training, reduce waste and repairs, and measure success. Lab Certification Programs:
This program allows us to approve vendors and mills to perform lab tests in their factory rather than sending product to be tested by outside laboratories. This reduces overall costs and improves speed to market. International Sourcing:
Chico's FAS entered the international market in 2013 with the opening of three White House | Black Market boutiques in Canada. In 2014, Chico's opened its first boutiques in Canada and Mexico.
Working together with the Chico’s FAS Supply Chain team, we have developed a creative and flexible model that will support our international growth for years to come.
Other future plans include identifying the most innovative materials, leveraging purchasing power, increasing vendor collaboration, and time/cost/transparency initiatives.
